Quartz is an innovative man made engineered stone, consisting of up to 93% natural quartz particles or minerals, sometimes combined with glass, moulded with resis and pigments, then pressed, heated, gauged and polished or surface textured. The end result is an extremely durable, non porous, hygenic and robust material.
It is very compact and has no natural flaws so has high flextoral strength. It cuts and machines exceptional cleanly and pieces with large cut outs or long thin shapes are achievable in quartz that aren't in natural stone. As it is a manufactured material a multitude of colours and patterns are achievable, from replicating natural marbles and granites to solid plain colours, virtually anything is possible. Mainly supplied polished, although a softer less bright gloss than stone, quartz is also available in a variety of matt and textured finishes.
